The first session of the Joint Economic Committee meetings between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Iran focused on enhancing cooperation in various economic sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, transportation, and new economy. The meetings were chaired by Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri and Mehrdad Badrbash and aimed to advance bilateral economic relations to new levels of growth and prosperity.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri emphasized the continuous growth of UAE-Iranian economic relations and highlighted the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries. The UAE is committed to strengthening economic and trade cooperation with Iran in areas of mutual interest to enhance both economies sustainably.

During the meeting, Bin Touq discussed economic developments in the UAE, including new laws to support foreign ownership and attract talents and businesses. The two sides explored mechanisms to boost trade exchanges, support exporters and importers, and engage the private sector in enhancing economic cooperation.

Technical working teams were formed to implement the committee’s outputs and enhance business growth for Emirati and Iranian small and medium enterprises. Both sides also agreed to cooperate in tourism, energy, industry, research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. The goal is to diversify economic activities, facilitate trade, and open new channels for business growth in both countries.

The meetings provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas on how they could work together to promote sustainable development through economic cooperation. The UAE is keen on strengthening its relationship with Iran as it seeks to diversify its economy while expanding its influence regionally.
