Ty Gibbs claimed his first career pole position at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday with a lap of 183.955 mph. He was followed in the starting lineup by William Byron in second place, Christopher Bell in third, Martin Truex Jr. in fourth, and Chase Elliott in fifth. Other drivers who made it to the second round of qualifying include Alex Bowman, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick, Michael McDowell, and Kyle Larson.

On Saturday at the 1.5-mile track, Cole Custer and Austin Hill were involved in a crash during the race. Reddick was penalized for unapproved adjustments made to the underwing of his Toyota after it went through tech and will have to start from the rear of the field on Sunday. The crew chief of the No. 45 car was also ejected by NASCAR and Reddick will have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race. Unfortunately, Chris Buescher was unable to take a qualifying lap due to a crash during practice and will have to go to a backup car for Sunday’s race. The Coca-Cola 600 will be broadcast on Fox at 6 p.m. ET with pre-race coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. on FS1 and moving to Fox at 5:30 p.m
