The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has recognized Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey and St. Joseph medical centers for their long-term commitments to improving patient outcomes and safety. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center received the accrediting agency’s Gold Milestone recognition for achieving and maintaining vascular testing accreditation for at least 30 years, while St. Joseph Medical Center received the Silver Milestone recognition for maintaining accreditation for 25 years.
Since first earning accreditation from the IAC in 1993 and 1997 respectively, Hershey and St. Joseph medical centers have undergone an intensive application and review process every three years, with an assessment conducted by a panel of medical experts. “We’re honored to be recognized as an early adopter of IAC accreditation and for our continued commitment to quality vascular testing services,” said Dr. Josh Radtka, a Penn State Health vascular surgeon and medical director of the Vascular Ultrasound Lab at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The accreditation process assesses the medical centers’ critical operational and technical components, including representative case studies and their corresponding final reports. “The IAC is the gold standard in the field of vascular testing,” said Bryan Schmalhofer, Penn State Health regional director of diagnostic imaging. “It’s a testament to our teams who consistently demonstrate their commitment to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care.”
