On Tuesday morning, a man was shot by police in a Portage business park. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Marine View Drive just after 11:20 a.m. when Portage police were dispatched to the area for a well-being check. A male subject with a firearm was located by the police, and at some point, the man sustained a single gunshot wound, resulting in the shooting being officer-involved. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition was not provided.
The following day, just before 1:10 a.m., Portage police requested that the Porter County Sheriff’s Office investigate the shooting. The officer involved and the male subject’s identity will be released at a later date, according to the police. When asked for additional details surrounding the incident, police did not provide further information to WGN News.
