In preparation for Valentine’s Day, Tulsa Health Department’s substance abuse prevention program and the StopDUI Task Force are urging residents who drink alcohol to do so responsibly and safely, or to try a fun mocktail instead. On Friday, February 9th, THD Prevention Specialist Kandice Lawson and Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Kirby will be hosting a Facebook Live mocktail tutorial for Valentine’s Day.
For those looking to indulge in a festive drink for the occasion, here are three delicious recipes to try:
1. Circus of Love: A whimsical treat that is perfect for a party or gathering with friends. To make this mocktail, you will need 1 large carbonated beverage, 1 jar of marshmallow fluff, 4 glasses, 1 container of cotton candy, and 1 container of sprinkles. Roll the rim of the glass in marshmallow fluff and dip it in sprinkles before filling the glass with carbonated beverage and adding cotton candy stirring until well combined. Garnish with a cherry on top!
2. Stop in the Name of Love: A refreshing twist on a classic cocktail that is sure to impress your guests at your next gathering. To make this mocktail, you will need 2 ounces sparkling hibiscus red grape juice, 2 ounces lemon-lime soda, 2 ounces orange juice, an orange wheel and several Valentine’s Candy Hearts. In a glass add ice, sparkling hibiscus red grape juice, lemon-lime soda and orange juice then shake or stir until well mixed pour into a chilled glass full of crushed ice before garnishing with an orange wheel and adding several Valentine’s Candy Hearts on top.
3. Kandi-Coated Punch: A fruity punch that is perfect for serving at your next get together or party. To make this punch you will need 1 2-liter bottle of Sprite
