In Tulkarm, a city located in the northern West Bank, a tragic event occurred during an Israeli army military operation. On Monday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that a woman and a child were killed and four citizens were injured by gunfire from the Israeli army.

Reports indicate that Israeli military vehicles and a bulldozer were seen heading towards the Nour Shams refugee camp east of Tulkarm. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society later revealed that three individuals were being treated for injuries sustained during the Israeli army’s operations in the Nour Shams camp. Among the injured were an elderly woman with severe shrapnel wounds and another woman with shrapnel injuries to the neck and back.

This recent escalation in violence comes amidst a situation of unrest and conflict that has been ongoing in the West Bank for over a year. The violence intensified following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian officials report that at least 556 Palestinians have lost their lives in the West Bank due to actions by Israeli forces or settlers since the beginning of the Gaza conflict.

The Israeli military maintains that these operations are targeted at armed Palestinian groups, but civilians often become unintended victims of the violence. Tragically, this cycle of violence has resulted in numerous casualties, further exacerbating the already volatile situation in the region.
