At the first in-person Bus Technology Summit held at STN EXPO East in Indianapolis, six school bus supplier companies showcased their products and services aimed at enhancing student transportation operations. Each company demonstrated how their technology can help streamline district operations and improve student safety on school buses.

Transfinder emphasized the importance of tracking student ridership and provided attendees with hands-on experience using their suite of products that make up an all-in-one solution. They showed how collecting ridership data can help district staff better understand their operations and make informed decisions.

Zonar’s lab focused on dispatch management, driver time clock management, student ridership insights, and school bus inspection processes through various tools such as Zonar Access, Z Pass, MyView Parent App, and EVIR. Attendees participated in hands-on activities using sample tablets to complete bus inspections.

Tyler Technologies showcased dynamic routing, onboard tablets, and a parent communication mobile app that can be customized with transportation staff’s insights to better suit district needs than traditional AI. They highlighted the importance of human input in technology solutions and emphasized the role of technology in improving communication between parents and district staff.

247Security discussed best practices for integrated video systems and led conversations on what districts are looking for in onboard bus camera technology. They emphasized the importance of how these systems can work effectively for district operations both now and in the future.

REI examined the importance of durability and reliability in school bus camera equipment to ensure data is captured and protected in the event of emergencies. Attendees shared feedback on how they have integrated REI products into their operations successfully.

Safety Vision provided a preview of their new video management software SafetyNET 5, which focuses on enhancing student safety through onboard video integration, driver scoring, and coaching. They emphasized the role of video technology in improving student safety on school buses.

The Bus Technology Summit will return to STN EXPO East in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 21, 2025. Participants had the opportunity to engage with various technological solutions specifically designed to improve student transportation operations and safety.

Overall, attendees learned about different ways technology can enhance student transportation operations while improving safety measures taken by schools during transportations.
