On Monday morning, a person was shot and killed outside of UNC Health Johnston in Clayton by a deputy. The incident took place on the hospital’s campus, prompting a response from deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Alan Wolf, the Director of News and Media Relations at UNC Health, confirmed the altercation and expressed gratitude that no hospital employees or patients were harmed. Public Relations Specialist Suzette Rodriguez reassured that all areas of the hospital remain open.

The State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed at this time. The community is eagerly awaiting more information as authorities work to determine the events that resulted in this tragic outcome.
