The incident took place on the hospital’s campus, prompting a response from deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Alan Wolf, the Director of News and Media Relations at UNC Health, confirmed the altercation and expressed gratitude that no hospital employees or patients were harmed. Public Relations Specialist Suzette Rodriguez reassured that all areas of the hospital remain open.
The State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed at this time.
