In a shocking turn of events, the skiing community is mourning the loss of professional skier Jean Daniel Pession and his girlfriend Elisa Arlian, who tragically passed away in a mountain accident in Italy. They were 28 and 27 years old respectively. The couple had gone hiking on Mount Zerbion in Aosta Valley when they fell almost 2,300 feet.

Despite efforts by search and rescue teams to locate them, no traces were found on the rock to indicate where they had fallen. It took several hours of searching before their bodies were discovered buried in the snow. They were found tied together near the summit, as if in a final embrace. A device used to locate one of their cell phone signals helped narrow down their location for search and rescue teams.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation recognized Pession’s achievements in his skiing career, including placing fifteenth in the 2021 final World Cup and 22nd at the World Championships in 2022. The Federation expressed condolences to the Pession family for this tragic loss. Aosta Valley’s Regional Council President Alberto Bertin also offered condolences to the families, friends, and the entire sporting community during this time of profound sadness.

The community was devastated by the loss of two young lives whose passion for the mountains led to this tragic accident. Pession’s death has left a void in the skiing community, and many are struggling to come to terms with this devastating loss.

In an effort to pay tribute to Pession and Arlian, many have taken to social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter to share photos and memories of their time spent together on the slopes. Many are also donating money towards a fundraiser that will go towards helping support families affected by this tragedy.

The skiing community is currently grappling with grief over this terrible loss, but it remains committed to honoring Pession’s memory by continuing his legacy on the slopes.

As we reflect on this tragedy, we must remember that life is short and precious. We must cherish every moment we spend with our loved ones, whether it’s hiking through mountains or simply enjoying each other’s company over a cup of coffee.

Rest in peace Jean Daniel Pession and Elisa Arlian. Your passion for life will never be forgotten by those who knew you best!
