The parents of a soldier who tragically died in a battle with terrorists in the Gaza Strip made the difficult decision to donate their son’s organs for transplantation to patients in need. However, they had specific conditions – they only agreed to donate their son’s organs to Jewish patients requiring transplants.

Unfortunately, they were shocked to learn that one of their son’s organs had been given to an Arab girl, despite their explicit wishes. According to reports from Channel 12 news service, the parents discovered that the organ recipient was a girl from the Arab quarter of Jerusalem. They expressed their anger at what they perceived as a violation of their instructions.

The Ministry of Health responded by clarifying that in the process of selecting patients for organ donation, only medical factors are taken into consideration. They explained that in cases where a kidney is donated by a healthy individual wishing to perform a good deed, they may request that their kidney be transplanted to a Jewish patient. However, when deciding on organ recipients, medical criteria are prioritized to ensure that the patient most in need receives the organ.

The Ministry emphasized that in the healthcare system, the value placed on human life is the highest priority, with no distinctions made between individuals based on their background. They stressed that the selection process for transplant recipients is solely based on medical considerations to guarantee that those in critical need of organs receive them.

In conclusion, while it may be difficult for families facing such circumstances, it is important for them to understand and respect the healthcare system’s protocols and priorities when making decisions regarding organ donations.
