In northern Italy, two career skiers tragically lost their lives after falling from a mountain. The incident occurred near the summit of Monte Zerbion in the Alps. The victims were identified as Jean Daniel Pession, a 27-year-old World Cup competitor, and Elisa Arlian, a 26-year-old skiing instructor.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal fall were unclear. Both skiers fell nearly 2,300 feet, resulting in their deaths. The Italian Winter Sports Federation expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident, recognizing Pession’s achievements in speed skiing competitions. Local officials also mourned the loss of the couple and offered condolences to their families.

The Italian Winter Sports Federation highlighted Pession’s success in the World Cup, where he ranked 15th in 2021 and 22nd in 2022. The Regional Council of the Aosta Valley recognized the deaths of Pession and Arlian, describing it as a moment of profound sadness. The entire skiing community is mourning the loss of these talented athletes.
