On Sunday morning at approximately 9:35 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway near Drežnik, Karlovac, according to the Karlovac Police Department. The accident involved a passenger car with Ogulin license plates that was being driven by a 55-year-old man, and a police vehicle with Zagreb license plates that was being driven by a 56-year-old man.

According to reports, the passenger car struck the rear of the police vehicle in an inappropriate speed while rounding a slight bend, causing both vehicles to collide with metal guardrails on the central belt. After bouncing back onto the roadway, both vehicles sustained significant damage.

The force of the impact threw all three men involved in the accident seriously injured. The 55-year-old driver from the passenger car sustained serious injuries, while two people from his vehicle – a 56-year-old driver and a 53-year-old passenger – were slightly injured. All three men were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

For causing this traffic accident, the driver of the police vehicle will be issued a mandatory misdemeanor order and reported to competent state attorney for further investigation.
