On May 8, while working on repairing an underground cable line in District 8, four workers from the Cho Lon Electricity Company sustained severe burns as a result of an electrical short circuit, fire, and explosion. The workers were taken to Cho Ray Hospital where doctors attempted to treat them.

The most severely injured patient was a 28-year-old male with 2nd and 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body. The patient had burns on his head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and eyes. Emergency doctors provided pain relief, intravenous fluids, tetanus prevention, blood tests, and CT scans for the patient. Dr. Ngo Duc Hiep, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Cho Ray Hospital, reported that the patient’s prognosis was still difficult due to the extent of his burns.

The other three patients included a 46-year-old man with burns on his head and face, a 37-year-old man with burns on his ear and hands
