Tottenham have agreed to extend Timo Werner’s stay at the club until the end of next season. The German forward joined Spurs on a temporary basis in January and made 14 appearances, scoring twice in that time. Initially, Tottenham had the option to sign Werner permanently for £15m this summer. However, the new deal includes an £8.5m option to buy clause.

Despite Werner’s injury, which ruled him out of the final five Premier League matches last season, Tottenham finished fifth in the league and will be competing in the Europa League in the upcoming season. The German international, who has 24 goals from 57 caps for his country, last played for Germany in a friendly against Belgium in March 2023.

Werner had a successful spell at Chelsea, scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances and winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup before rejoining Leipzig in 2022. His return to Tottenham will be eagerly awaited by fans as the club looks to continue its progress in the upcoming season.
