The spring high school sports season has been buzzing with excitement in the Grand Rapids area as readers have been participating in the Athlete of the Week poll to recognize outstanding players. Now, the spotlight will be on seniors who are wrapping up their high school athletic careers with a new poll highlighting the top local performers in each grade.

Starting Tuesday, May 7, stories and polls featuring the area’s elite spring sports seniors will be showcased. Among these talented seniors are future Division-I college athletes, including lacrosse midfielder Claire Marosi from GR Catholic Central, lacrosse attacker Vivian LaMange from East Grand Rapids, centerfielder Megan Beemer from Hudsonville, catcher Sophie Holverstott from Byron Center, and many more.

To make sure every deserving athlete is recognized, nominations with player stats and accolades can be submitted to Patrick Nothaft at pnothaft@mlive.com. Throughout the season, we have highlighted impressive winners of the Athlete of the Week poll, such as Allendale girls track sprinter Kennadi Galy and Holland Christian baseball shortstop Caden VanHuis.
