The NBA draft is finally here, and excitement is in the air. Yahoo Sports NBA draft analyst Krysten Peek breaks down the latest 2024 mock draft, which is shaping up to be an exciting one.

The top pick for the Hawks is still uncertain between Zachary Rica and Donovan Clinton. However, with just a few days left until the draft, we are starting to see some clarity in the top five picks.

French Wing Zachary Ricer is projected to go number one to the Hawks. The 6’8″, 19-year-old has impressed with his pro upside and versatility, showing skills on both ends of the court. He has been a standout player all year long and could be a valuable addition to any team looking for a young talent with potential.

Following him, the 7’1″ center Alex Star is expected to go second to the Washington Wizards. Although he has refused to meet with the Hawks, making it unlikely that he will be picked by them. Star can stretch the floor and is known for his elite rim protection, making him a valuable addition to any team looking for a defensive anchor and offensive threat from beyond the arc.

Kentucky guard Reed Shepherd is projected to go third to the Houston Rockets. Known for his sharpshooting and high basketball IQ, Shepherd can immediately contribute alongside veterans in the Rockets backcourt. He would bring much-needed depth and scoring ability to their already talented roster.

UConn guard Stefan Castle is predicted to go fourth to the Spurs, offering playmaking skills to help their big man and anchor their defense. Castle has been a standout player all year long and could provide much-needed leadership on a team that lacks it currently.

Finally, UConn center Donovan Clinton is expected to go fifth
