Tom Brady, the legendary former quarterback of the New England Patriots, has announced plans to retire his number 12 shirt and erect a statue in honor of his contributions to the team. At the age of 46, Brady was inducted into the Patriots’ Hall of Fame, where he remains as the greatest player in franchise history and one of the greatest in all of NFL history.

Brady was selected by the Patriots in the 2000 draft and went on to lead them to six Super Bowl wins during his time with the team. After leaving for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, Brady won another Super Bowl and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player for a fifth time. In 2022, he announced his retirement before returning to play a 23rd and final season in the NFL only six weeks later.

At his ceremony at Gillette Stadium, Brady expressed his gratitude saying “I am eternally grateful. I am Tom Brady. And I am a Patriot”. Former Patriots coach Bill Belichick also attended the ceremony and thanked Brady for his contributions to the team.

Brady holds several NFL records, including most regular-season pass attempts, completions, passing yards, and touchdown passes. He was named season’s MVP three times during his career. The statue will be placed outside of Hall of Fame to symbolize his status as not only
