TOHO recently acquired anime production studio Science SARU through a capital alliance deal. This means that Science SARU will now be a subsidiary of TOHO, effective June 19. The studio, founded in 2013 by anime director Masaaki Yuasa and current president Eun Young Choi, has produced popular shows like The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, Lu Over the Wall, Devilman Crybaby, Ride Your Wave, The Heike Story, and Inu-Oh.
Science SARU has several upcoming projects including the new Naoko Yamada film The Colors Within and a TV anime adaptation of the Dandadan manga. This acquisition marks a significant move for TOHO in expanding its presence in the anime industry. In recent times, TOHO has been involved in the production of various anime titles such as Kaiju No. 8, My Hero Academia Season 7, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, and Spy x Family: Code White.
