Berkhimer and DiPerna share a love for plants and tea, which led to the creation of their business, Potted, in Norfolk. Berkhimer has always had a passion for plants, influenced by her family’s gardening traditions. She now manages the greenery side of the business, including pots, plants for sale, and a soil bar for repotting.
DiPerna is responsible for the tea menu at Potted, offering a variety of handcrafted hot and cold bubble teas as well as daily special drinks. His inspiration came from unique cafes he visited during his travels, particularly a plant and coffee shop in Denver. Together, they decided to bring this concept to Hampton Roads and share it with the community.
The couple started their entrepreneurial journey with a mobile espresso cart and plant shop before moving into a physical location at Selden Market. While they are excited about their new space, they plan to continue with pop-ups and eventually offer catering services. Through Potted, they have found a way to turn their passions into a successful business that offers customers a unique experience that combines their love for plants and tea. Their journey as entrepreneurs continues with plans for growth and innovation in the future.
