ESPN has announced a five-year agreement with TNT Sports to license select college football playoff games, starting from the upcoming season. As part of the deal, TNT Sports will broadcast two first-round CFP games in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. From 2026 to 2028, they will also add two quarterfinal games each year. TNT Sports will be the primary network airing these sublicensed games, in addition to distributing them across other TNT Sports platforms.

The agreement with TNT comes after ESPN secured a $7.8 billion media rights extension for the CFP through the 2032 season. ESPN will continue to broadcast all other CFP games, including the annual college National Championship game. CFP executive director Bill Hancock welcomed TNT Sports to the college football playoff family and mentioned their track record of quality sports broadcasting.

TNT Sports chairman and CEO Luis Silberwasser expressed excitement about the agreement, stating that they aim to showcase these marquee games to fans and drive maximum reach and engagement. ESPN’s programming and acquisitions executive vice president, Rosalyn Durant, also commented on the deal, highlighting the increased reach and promotion it will provide as the college football playoff enters a new expanded era. This year marks the expansion of the playoffs from four teams to 12, with the top-ranking conference champions receiving first-round byes.
