Warner Brothers Discovery and ESPN have reached a five-year agreement that will allow TNT Sports to sublicense College Football Playoff (CFP) games. This is an exciting development for the CFP, as TNT Sports is a highly respected broadcaster with a proven track record of success across a wide variety of sports over the past two decades.

As part of the agreement, TNT Sports will air two first-round games during the 2024 and 2025 campaigns, and then add two quarterfinal games each year from 2026 through 2028. ESPN will also continue to air the other CFP games and the national title contest on its own networks.

The upcoming season will feature a 12-team format, including five auto bids for conference champions from the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, ACC, and the highest-ranked Group of Five conference champion, along with seven at-large bids. While this system is guaranteed for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, there are expectations for further expansion to 14 teams starting in 2026.

TNT Sports’ addition to the College Football Playoff family means that fans can expect new and innovative ideas to be brought to the promotion and delivery of these important games. The CFP looks forward to working with TNT Sports to make sure that college football fans everywhere have access to these exciting events.
