In a major announcement, the Department of Economic and Community Development in Tennessee has revealed a $3 million expansion of OPmobility’s plant in Spring Hill. This development will focus on the exteriors group to produce more products for electric vehicle manufacturing, leading to the creation of 186 new jobs at the plant. Currently, the plant has just 18 employees, according to a TNECD release.

Founded in France in 1946, OPmobility (formerly known as Plastic Omnium) has been established in Tennessee since 2015, with locations in Chattanooga, Smyrna, Hendersonville, and Spring Hill. The company currently employs over 560 people across the state and is headquartered in France. With this expansion, OPmobility is demonstrating its commitment to innovation and growth within the automotive sector.

Xavier Maury, the U.S. operations director for OPmobility, expressed his excitement about the new challenges presented by ongoing mobility transformation within the automotive industry. He emphasized that his company is dedicated to maintaining its engagement and industrial excellence in Tennessee while partnering with a top OEM in vehicle electrification.

TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter highlighted the positive impact of foreign investment on Tennessee’s thriving automotive industry. While specific details on how TNECD may be supporting OPmobility’s expansion were not specified in the release, it is clear that this investment will have a significant impact on job creation and economic growth in Spring Hill and beyond
