As we approach the start of the regular season, Arizona Cardinals fans eagerly anticipate the beginning of a new chapter in the team’s storied football history. In just 12 weeks or 84 days, the Cardinals will kick off their season on the road against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.

One of the players who could make a significant impact for the Cardinals is tight end Elijah Higgins. Although he was drafted by Miami Dolphins and claimed off waivers by Arizona last year, Higgins had an impressive performance with his new team. Despite being inactive for many weeks, Higgins ended up playing in 11 games, starting two, and catching 14 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Higgins’s potential to be an impact player for the Cardinals cannot be overlooked. His impressive down-the-stretch performance would have been even more noteworthy had it not been overshadowed by Trey McBride’s breakout season. McBride’s success has left fans wondering what other talented young tight ends might emerge from within this organization.

The number 84 has held significant importance for tight ends within the Arizona Cardinals organization over the years. The most notable player to wear that number was likely Jermaine Gresham, who played for Arizona from 2015-2019. Although he did not quite live up to his first-round status or his previous impressive performances with Cincinnati Bengals, Gresham still managed to catch more than 30 passes in both 2016 and 2017 seasons – quite an accomplishment considering historical struggles of tight ends within this organization.
