Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake have been given the green light to transform an old cinema in St Andrews into a sports bar known as T-Squared Social. The new luxury bar will feature sports simulators, duckpin bowling, and darts, while still preserving two cinema screens. This redevelopment project is expected to create around 40 to 45 jobs.

The owners of the New Picture House Cinema, where the bar will be located, have expressed their support for the proposal. They explained that without a change, the cinema would have to close as it currently operates at under 10% occupancy and is no longer sustainable as a standalone cinema. The bar will provide a broader range of cinema, dining, and entertainment options for the people of St Andrews.

Christopher Anand, the CEO and managing partner of the firm behind the project, emphasized the importance of preserving the historic architecture and design of the theatre. The plan is to breathe new life into the site while keeping it open seven days a week. The New Picture House Cinema first opened its doors in 1930 and seats 700 people, with key architectural features set to be retained in the transformation.

Tiger Woods came up with the idea for T-Squared Social during a round of golf at their development in the Bahamas. Woods has fond memories of playing at St Andrews during the 150th Open Championships in 2022. He expressed his hope that the sports bar would be a welcoming place for both locals and tourists.

Justin Timberlake was also involved in the project and shared his excitement about bringing entertainment options to St Andrews
