The Paris 2024 Olympics will host volleyball matches from July 27 to August 11 in the South Paris Arena. This top-notch venue will provide a thrilling experience for both players and spectators alike. The medal matches for men and women’s events will take place from August 9th to the 11th, adding an extra layer of excitement to the tournament.
Involving two teams of six players, volleyball is played on an indoor court measuring 18m long and 9m wide. Matches are won by the team that reaches 25 points with a two-point margin, or by playing error. Each set is played in a best-of-five sets format, with a fifth set possible if necessary, where both teams have to reach 15 points with a two-point winning margin.
Brazil has enjoyed tremendous success in men’s Olympic volleyball competition, winning three golds and three silvers, leading the standings overall. However, Italy has also been successful, winning three gold medals in the sport. On the other hand, women’s Olympic volleyball has seen six countries claim gold medals, including Great Britain who are yet to secure an Olympic volleyball medal in either event.
