The Seventy-seventh session of the World Health Assembly (WHA77) is scheduled to take place from May 27 to June 1, 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland. This assembly will bring together global health authorities, including several ministers from the region of the Americas. The theme for this session is “All for Health, Health for All,” and discussions are expected to focus on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) new strategy for global health 2025-2028. This strategy addresses the health impact of megatrends such as climate change, aging, migration, and advances in science and technology.

One of the key topics to be discussed at WHA77 is the Pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response agreement, which is led by WHO member states. The aim is to ensure that all countries are better prepared and able to effectively and equitably respond to future pandemics. Decisions are also expected on various health priorities, including climate and health, emergencies, access to transformative tools, antimicrobial resistance, communicable diseases, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), mental health, and women’s health.
