RICHMOND, Va. (March 17, 2023) – Conference play heats up in the CAA as lacrosse league matchups get completely underway Saturday, joining baseball and softball conference series and tennis league clashes. Outside track & field season begins up for the majority of applications and rowing and golf competitors continues.
Baseball
It is a further complete weekend of conference play in CAA baseball. Northeastern, which is off to its finest all round commence because 1942, hosts North Carolina A&T. Right after recording victories more than nationally ranked foes on Tuesday, Elon and UNCW appear to continue the momentum as the Phoenix pay a visit to Monmouth and the Seahawks travel to Towson. Softball
We have a complete weekend of CAA Softball awaiting as 5 conference series are on the docket. The leading two teams in the preseason poll, UNCW and Delaware, will face off in Newark. The Seahawks enter the matchup on a 4-game winning streak just after sweeping its opening CAA series and a midweek victory more than North Carolina, as they earned their very first Energy 5 win because 2019. Two teams that won their very first CAA series this spring will go head-to-head in West Extended Branch. Monmouth took two of 3 from Hampton in its opening CAA series and will host Elon, who earned a sweep more than Stony Brook final weekend. In addition, Charleston ends a 22-game house stand, hitting the road for just the second time this season when the Cougars head to Towson.

CAA play gets into complete swing in Men’s Lacrosse with 3 conference matchups on Saturday. At noon (FloLive), newcomers Hampton and Stony Brook start their tenure in CAA Lacrosse playing at Armstrong Stadium. Simultaneously, Towson will host Drexel (FloLive) as the Dragons appear to ride the momentum from a ranked win their final time out, and the Tigers try to snap a 5-game skid. In the nightcap, Hofstra will host Fairfield at 7 p.m. (FloLive).
In non-conference action, Delaware and Monmouth, who went head-to-head final weekend, will face leading-20 competitors. The Hawks host No. ten/9 Villanova at two p.m. on Saturday (FloLive), although the Blue Hens travel to No. 9/ten Johns Hopkins at 7 p.m. on Sunday (ESPN+). | Weekend Schedule
Golf
A light week on the schedule will have 3 women’s applications in action. Delaware and Towson head to Arizona for the Red Rocks Invitational and Elon will play in Hilton Head.
Rowing
3 CAA Rowing crews – Delaware, Eastern Michigan and Villanova – have opened their spring seasons, and two extra hit the water this weekend. On Friday, UConn opens its season in Orlando on Lake Pickett against UCF, Miami and Jacksonville. On Saturday, UC San Diego heads to Lake Natoma for the Hornet Invitational hosted by Sacramento State.
Tennis
The CAA tennis slate is highlighted by a huge conference matchup in Williamsburg on Sunday as the Delaware men’s and women’s teams face William & Mary. In other CAA women’s action, Hofstra hosts Towson in league action, Charleston welcomes Rhode Island and UTSA, Monmouth heads to Army, North Carolina A&T entertains Norfolk State and Stony Brook requires on Villanova. On the men’s side, UNCW hosts Illinois State, DePaul and Youngstown State in a round-robin tournament. Drexel is at Army and North Carolina A&T is house against Norfolk State.
Track & Field
Right after a short layoff, CAA Track & Field heads outdoors for the spring. Ten teams will compete this weekend, which includes seven opening their outside seasons. The women’s CAA Indoor Track & Field champions start their quest for the triple crown as Elon sends athletes to Charlotte for the 49er Classic and Higher Point for the Bob Davidson Invitational. North Carolina A&T and UNCW will join the Phoenix at Higher Point, with the Aggies opening their season and the Seahawks competing in their second meet this spring. The men’s CAA Indoor Track & Field champion head south as Northeastern opens the year in Orlando for the UCF Black and Gold Invite. Stony Brook and Hofstra will start the season on Extended Island, although Hampton heads to Coastal Carolina to commence the spring. Charleston and Delaware are competing in their second meets this season, with the Cougars participating in the CSU Buccaneer Invitational and the Blue Hens traveling to Richmond for the Fred Hardy Invitational, exactly where they will be joined by William & Mary opening its spring.
