Lauri Markkanen is the top trade target for the Golden State Warriors this summer, according to Monte Poole of 95.7 The Game. With his size, perimeter scoring, and versatile skill set, Markkanen would be a perfect fit in Steve Kerr’s motion-based system that utilizes five-out.

Poole mentioned on the “Steiny & Guru” show that Markkanen is the Warriors’ number one priority after missing out on Paul George, who was taken off the market. Markkanen’s ability to seamlessly fit into the Warriors lineup and play multiple positions makes him an attractive target for the team.

Markkanen, who is 27 years old, had an impressive season with the Utah Jazz, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. He shot 48% from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range, showcasing his scoring ability. Adding Markkanen to the Warriors roster would help fill the void left by Klay Thompson’s absence and provide the team with much-needed size.

However, convincing Utah to part ways with one of their best players may require a significant trade offer from the Warriors. If they choose not to pursue Markkanen, they will be keeping an eye out for other potential star-level additions in the upcoming weeks. It remains to be seen who else may emerge as a target for Golden State as they look to bolster their roster for the next season.
