A new study by Businessfinancing.co.uk has revealed the most mispronounced food and drink brands globally. German herbal liqueur Jägermeister was found to be the most commonly mispronounced brand, with 256,000 listens on the online pronunciation dictionary Forvo.com. French Champagne Veuve Clicquot came in second place with 253,000 listens, while Dutch beer brand Heineken and Japanese seasoning brand Ajinomoto rounded out the top three.

The study analyzed a comprehensive list of 16,875 food and drink brands from around the world, sourced from each country’s Wikipedia page. Each brand was then searched for on Forvo.com to determine the number of listens for each one. The team also identified the brand with the most listens overall and by category for each country.

The data was collected and analyzed in March 2024, providing valuable insights into which food and drink brands are most commonly mispronounced worldwide. This study will help businesses improve their marketing strategies by ensuring that their products are properly pronounced and understood by customers around the globe.
