On Saturday evening, 185 train passengers in Baden-Württemberg experienced a shock when their ICE train crashed due to a landslide in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The train, traveling about 50 kilometers east of Stuttgart, derailed after heavy rainfall caused rivers to overflow their banks and soften the ground. The landslide, which was 30 meters wide, affected two carriages of the train.

According to police reports, the landslide hit a car and also impacted the wheels of the passing train, causing the front two carriages to jump off the tracks. Fortunately, the carriages did not tip over, and the passengers were unharmed. They were evacuated from the train during the night and temporarily housed in a nearby kindergarten before being transported to Plüderhausen by bus.

Local politician Ender Önder mentioned on social media that rescue workers were taking precautionary measures. The incident disrupted the route of the ICE 510 train from Munich to Cologne in Baden-Wurttemberg. The train was diverted and derailed as a result of the landslide, but the passengers were safely evacuated. Efforts are underway to address the impact of the storm and ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
