The Creative Learning Alliance has announced the official name of Joplin’s upcoming science center, which will be known as the Schroeder Family Exploreum. This was revealed during an unveiling ceremony for the facility, located in the old Joplin Library building.

The project had initially considered 64 possible names, which were whittled down to three by the nonprofit’s board of directors. The final decision was made with a one-million-dollar donation from local developer Rick Schroeder. Audie Dennis, Board President of the Creative Learning Alliance, stated that this naming marks a significant milestone in the project. With the support of the Schroeder family and the community, the new facility is now on its way to becoming a reality.

The Creative Learning Alliance has set a fundraising goal of $6.5 million, with $1.7 million already pledged. The Schroeder Family Exploreum is scheduled to open its doors in 2025.
