Omaha’s Maple Athletic Complex is slowly recovering from the severe thunderstorms that caused flooding earlier in the week. Despite the efforts of Landon Arnold and his team to clean and dry the area, some parts of the complex are still too wet for use.

The creek behind the complex overflowed, leading to flooding inside the building. Tennis player Mike Mundt expressed relief that the courts have since dried out and are open for play. Nearby city parks and trails were also impacted by the flood, but cleanup efforts are underway and should not disrupt holiday weekend activities for parkgoers.

Although progress is being made, Arnold is unsure if the fields at the complex will be ready in time for a large league event scheduled for Sunday. However, soccer turf is expected to open back up by Tuesday, allowing activities to resume at the sports complex. Despite the challenges posed by the flooding, staff at the complex are working hard to restore facilities for everyone in Omaha to enjoy.
