As the 2024 season draws to a close, Georgia may see more changes on its coaching staff. CBS Sports’ David Cobb has ranked seven coordinators who could become head coaches in the next cycle, including both of Georgia’s defensive coordinators, Glenn Schumann and Travaris Robinson.

Schumann was the first hire Smart made to his staff after leaving Alabama. He served as inside linebackers coach for his first three years before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2019. Schumann took over the main title after Dan Lanning departed for Oregon in 2022. Despite being a target for multiple jobs, including being the favorite for the Eagles’ defensive coordinator position last offseason, Schumann ultimately chose to stay with the Bulldogs.

Robinson is a newer addition to the Georgia staff but is not lacking in reputation or experience. He spent two years as cornerbacks coach at Alabama before Smart hired him away as co-defensive coordinator this offseason. Robinson is highly regarded as one of the best recruiters in the conference. Before working at Alabama, Robinson also spent time as the defensive backs coach at Miami and the defensive coordinator at South Carolina under Will Muschamp.

Smart already has an extensive coaching tree, with former assistants Mel Tucker, Dan Lanning, Shane Beamer, Sam Pittman, Fran Brown, and Dell McGee all accepting head coaching jobs. With so many talented young coaches on his staff and around him
