The NFL offseason is a time of change and excitement as players find new homes to play, bringing joy to fanbases around the league. However, it also includes departures of critical players from teams. When examining this offseason of free agency, CBS Sports named every franchise’s most notable departure. One departure that stood out was that of defensive end Jonathan Greenard from the Houston Texans after a career year in 2023.

Greenard, a third-round pick of the Texans in 2020, had shown flashes of his potential in his first three years. His career year in 2023 included 12.5 sacks and 52 tackles, leading him to sign a four-year, $76 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings. The Texans replaced Greenard with Danielle Hunter, a nine-year veteran who has consistently performed well in recent seasons. This move may have even improved the team at that position.

Despite the loss of Greenard, the Texans have improved both sides of the ball this offseason, leading to optimism among fans that the team could be a serious contender to win a Super Bowl in 2024.
