Athletes will swim and race through historic city center landmarks like the Champs-Elysees, starting on a pontoon on the River Seine under the Pont Alexandre III bridge.
In preparation for Paris 2024, concerns have been raised about water quality in the Seine, with a possibility of postponing the swimming legs if pollution levels rise due to heavy rain. Triathlon at the Olympics consists of three medal events: men’s and women’s individual races, and mixed relay. The distances for each event include a 1500m swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run for individuals, while the mixed relay has a shorter course with a 300m swim, 5.8km cycle, and 1.8km run.
