The Packers have decided to move Alex McGough from quarterback to wide receiver, despite selecting Tulane quarterback Michael Pratt in the seventh round of the draft. McGough, who is 28 years old, spent the previous season on the team’s practice squad as the third quarterback behind Jordan Love and Sean Clifford. Packers coach Matt LaFleur highlighted McGough’s athleticism and expressed the team’s desire to give him a chance at wide receiver after seeing him excel in that role on the scout team.

Although they did not choose a receiver or sign one in free agency, the Packers have a crowded wide receiver room with several talented players such as Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, Malik Heath, Samori Toure, Grant DuBose, and Thyrick Pitts. McGough could also contribute on special teams for the Packers since he has not yet played in an NFL regular-season game.
