Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is currently focused on the number 24, which has shifted attention away from a potentially more important number: two. The Dolphins haven’t made it to the playoffs since 2000, but what’s even more concerning is that McDaniel’s team has been eliminated in the wild-card round for two consecutive seasons. In both of these seasons, the team fell apart towards the end, preventing them from advancing further in the playoffs.
The larger issue at hand is McDaniel’s inability to lead the team past the first round of the playoffs. Last season, their loss in Kansas City dashed their playoff hopes, despite having a strong position in the AFC East. Had they maintained their hold on the division, they would have been hosting a playoff game instead.
