The government has approved the construction of a new hospital in Beersheba, which aims to improve the medical service system in southern Israel and reduce social disparities in healthcare access. Health Minister Uriel Buso and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich presented the program for its construction and financing, which will be jointly owned by the Leumit and Meuhedet health insurance funds and Sheba Hospital. The new hospital is expected to open by 2028 and will have 600 beds, offering a wide range of services for both inpatients and outpatients.

After several changes in government over the years, the current government is finally moving forward with the decision made in 2014 to build a new hospital in Beersheba. This decision was made to strengthen the medical service system in southern Israel, attract qualified specialists, improve the quality and availability of medical services for the region’s population, increase competition in the healthcare market, and reduce social disparities in healthcare access.

The ministries of health and finance released a joint statement emphasizing that this new hospital will be jointly owned by two major health insurance funds – Leumit and Meuhedet – along with Sheba Hospital, which will be responsible for its operation. With 600 beds available at this state-of-the-art facility, patients can expect to receive top-notch care from highly skilled professionals who specialize in various medical fields such as cardiology, oncology, neurology, gynecology, urology, orthopedics, pediatrics, internal medicine, emergency care and more.

This project is expected to create hundreds of job opportunities for local residents as well as attracting doctors and nurses from around the world due to its high standard of living compared to other countries. It is an exciting development that will undoubtedly benefit not only those who work there but also those who use its services.
