Leveling the Playing Field is a local organization that helps children from low-income families play team sports. The organization provides equipment for coaches and leagues, allowing players to enjoy the benefits of playing without financial barriers.

Despite receiving numerous donations, the organization is run by only one employee, making them heavily reliant on volunteers to help sort and inventory the gear they receive. Eric Rutkowski, representing Leveling the Playing Field, emphasized the importance of community support and volunteer efforts in achieving their mission.

To get involved with this cause, you can join NBC4 and Besa as volunteers on June 27th from 11:30 to 12:30. During this time, volunteers will assist with sorting equipment. Additionally, you can donate your gently used sports equipment directly to Leveling the Playing Field to support their mission of providing equal opportunities for children to play team sports.
