The New York Giants had a difficult season in 2023, especially when it came to their offensive line. They allowed an astonishing 85 sacks, making them one of the worst in football. While injuries certainly played a part in their struggles, there were also issues with the development of key players like Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz, along with inconsistency from Andrew Thomas.

In response to these concerns, general manager Joe Schoen made the offensive line a priority in free agency. He added Jon Runyan Jr., Jermaine Eluemunor, Matt Nelson, Austin Schlottmann, and Aaron Stinnie to the mix. Despite these additions, Pro Football Focus still ranks the Giants’ offensive line as one of the worst in the league.

The Giants are hoping that Eluemunor and Runyan can make a significant impact on the inside of the line. However, much of the success will depend on the performance of players like Neal at right tackle. If he continues to struggle, he may be benched or moved to guard in favor of Eluemunor.

Overall, if the Giants want to find success in the upcoming season, they must elevate their offensive line’s performance from its poor showing in 2023. There is potential for improvement with new additions and returning players, but it remains uncertain if they can deliver on that potential and become a top-tier unit in football.
