Large language models (LLMs) and ERP technology are being considered as the future of the ERP landscape, although it is still in the early stages of development. The integration of LLMs within enterprise tech platforms is seen as a logical step as they can process a vast amount of data in context, setting the stage for automation solutions. EY recently launched its AI platform, EY.ai, in September 2023, highlighting the benefits of this collaborative effort.

Catriona Campbell, CTIO of EY UK and Ireland, shared the internal changes needed to develop EY.ai, including rolling out a LLM to their workforce. EY invested $1.4bn in EY.ai over 18 months to create a platform that combines their business experience with AI technology to help firms adopt AI solutions.

By forming business alliances within EY.ai, EY can leverage the collective knowledge of their partnerships with their own AI capabilities to offer a more effective approach to business transformations through AI adoption. Partnerships include Dell Technologies, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, ServiceNow, Thomson Reuters, and UiPath, among others.

The platform aims to connect EY’s business experience in strategy, transformation, risk, assurance, and tax with their technology platforms and AI capabilities to help clients confidently adopt AI solutions while addressing challenges. EY uses the platform to deliver AI-powered services and solutions to clients, showcasing the potential of developing LLMs with ERP technology.

The increased productivity from using GenAI abilities in conjunction with ERP systems could be the catalyst for businesses to embrace innovation.
