Brandon Johnson of Jamico Construction was devastated when a tornado hit Waterloo recently. He had just recently sold his property to Victoria Fluhart and her husband Justin, who were excited to start an equine therapy business on the land.

Victoria Fluhart and her husband were devastated by the tornado that hit Waterloo. They had recently relocated to the area to start an equine therapy business on a property owned by Brandon Johnson of Jamico Construction. Just days before their open house, the storm struck, causing significant damage to the property.

Despite the danger, Fluhart’s first priority was to save the horses on the property. In doing so, she suffered injuries but managed to rescue several horses. Sadly, her beloved mare Onyx did not survive the storm. Fluhart had owned Onyx for 18 years and considered her not just a horse but a partner, therapist, and friend.

Although devastated by the loss of Onyx, Fluhart is determined to continue pursuing her dream of offering equine therapy in the community with support from local community members. She and her husband are now focusing on rebuilding their business and constructing a new building on the land. They hope to host their open house this summer thanks to donations from community members who have come together to help them through this difficult time.

Fluhart expressed gratitude for the help they have received during the cleanup process and sees this as an opportunity to start anew with renewed energy and determination towards fulfilling their shared dream of offering equine therapy services to those in need within their community.

The road ahead may not be easy for Victoria Fluhart and her husband Justin as they navigate through this challenging time but with dedication and resilience, they will continue pursuing their dream while honoring Onyx’s memory by serving those in need through therapeutic horseback riding sessions.
