Calcutta-Annabel, the oldest weaving mill in Belgium, has faced significant challenges in recent times and has now closed its doors, putting about 80 jobs at risk. This closure was confirmed by the Christian trade union ACV Metea, which cited a sudden drop in orders that made bankruptcy inevitable. The East Flemish textile group Calcutta Home Fashion, established in 1848, had acquired the Waregem company AG Tex last year, marking its third acquisition in just six months.
