The University of Scranton’s Accounting Department has once again demonstrated its excellence in the field of education research by ranking among the top publishers in peer-reviewed accounting journals worldwide. According to the 2023 Brigham Young University Accounting Rankings, which is considered the gold standard in the accounting discipline, the department tied for 11th place for its education research published over the past six years.

In addition to the department ranking, Douglas M. Boyle, D.B.A., chair of the Accounting Department and director of the Ph.D. program, was tied for 5th place globally for his publication volume in top peer-reviewed accounting journals in the same time period. James F. Boyle, D.B.A., associate professor of accounting and director of the Master of Accountancy program, was tied for 25th place.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that the University’s Accounting Department has been recognized for its research publishing success in the Brigham Young University Accounting Rankings. The rankings evaluate accounting programs and faculty worldwide based on their publication success in top-tier accounting journals, with specific categories and time periods considered.

Mark Higgins, Ph.D., dean of the University’s Kania School of Management and professor of accounting, commended the department and its faculty for their consistency in making significant contributions to the knowledge base of the accounting profession. He emphasized
