In the coming years, Thaco is expected to have over 3,500 scientific innovations implemented in practice, leading to savings of more than 70 billion VND with a high economic impact, especially in the automobile sector. These science and technology projects have created spill-over effects that improve capacity and drive innovation in management and production across Thaco and its member companies. On Vietnam Science and Technology Day, Mr. Pham Van Tai, the General Director of Thaco, highlighted the company’s commitment to carrying out over 200 initiative topics and implementing more than 2,000 improvements in production each year.
Thaco has prioritized the recruitment, training, and development of a workforce of production engineers and research and development (R&D) engineers. Over the years, the number of engineers at Thaco has significantly grown from only 266 engineers in 2011 to over 9,300 engineers currently. These engineers are engaged in researching and applying new technologies, materials, and developing new products to meet customer demands.
One of the notable projects mentioned by Mr. Pham Van Tai is the design and manufacturing of high-quality sleeper buses with a Vietnamese brand. Thaco has achieved a localization rate of 60% and a domestic market share of 65% in its bus lines, exporting these buses to countries like the Philippines, Thailand
