Texas has been ranked fourth in the best state economy, according to a recent report by WalletHub. The top three positions were claimed by Washington, Utah and Massachusetts respectively. The study analyzed all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on 28 metrics to determine the “Best & Worst State Economies” in 2024. The states were ranked across three major categories: Economic activity, economic health, and innovation potential.

Texas earned a score of 60.08 out of 100 possible points, closely trailing behind Massachusetts which earned 61.52 points. Washington claimed the top spot with a score of 71.10. In terms of economic activity, Texas performed exceptionally well and was ranked second overall, but it fell short in economic health and innovation potential, ranking seventh and 24th respectively.

Notably, Texas tied with Louisiana for the highest exports per capita nationwide in the study. Additionally, the state had the second-highest change in GDP from 2022 to 2023, which is significant given growing concerns about a possible recession in the U.S. To read more about this study from CultureMap Dallas click HERE
