The Texas Rangers are facing a crucial three-game series against American League West rivals, the Seattle Mariners. Unfortunately, the team will be missing a key player with a history of producing big hits against the Seattle Mariners for the remainder of the series.
Former Seattle Mariners pitcher has highlighted two unsung heroes of the pitching staff. Switch-hitting catcher Jonah Heim, 28, has been placed on the paternity list before the middle game of the three-game set. Heim has batted .257/.295/.439 with 12 doubles, five home runs, and 31 RBIs in 45 games against Seattle throughout his career. In one game in 2021, Heim hit two two-run home runs against Seattle. To fill Heim’s roster spot, the Rangers called up former top prospect Sam Huff.
Huff was a top-100 prospect according to MLB Pipeline in 2020 and 2021 but has not seen much major-league playing time since his 2022 debut. In 76 games across four big-league seasons, Huff has a solid slash line of .2623/.314/.462 with nine doubles, 10 home runs, and 20 RBIs. Fans are eager to see how rookie Tyler Locklear continues to perform for the Mariners as they opened a key series with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers.
