New York will be the location of the next IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match, as Tetsuya Naito issued a challenge for a bout in the city. This came after Jon Moxley successfully defended the title at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, and declared his willingness to defend it anywhere and anytime.

Moxley has previously defeated Naito at Windy City Riot event, and since then he has defended the title in both NJPW and AEW. One of his most notable defenses was against Powerhouse Hobbs on AEW Dynamite. At the recent Dominion event in Osaka-jo Hall, Moxley retained the title in a lumberjack match against EVIL, delivering a death rider onto a barbed wire baseball bat to secure victory.

EVIL and his faction, House of Torture, have been causing chaos in NJPW throughout the year. Moxley enlisted the help of third-generation NJPW stars to combat their antics during the lumberjack match. The ongoing rivalry between Moxley and EVIL has added an exciting element to the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship storyline.
