On Sunday, warning sirens blared in Tel Aviv and central Israel, prompting residents to seek shelter after rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip. This alert interrupted a period of relative calm in the region, contrasting with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas in Gaza. At least three explosions were reported in central Israel as a result of the rocket fire.

In response, the armed wing of Palestinian Hamas claimed responsibility for launching a “major barrage of rockets” targeting Tel Aviv. They cited retaliation for alleged Israeli attacks on civilians. Despite the rocket fire, only one person was reported to have sustained minor injuries while seeking shelter, as per the Israeli emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA).

Witnesses in Gaza reported seeing rockets being launched from Rafah towards central Israel. The Israeli army stated that eight rockets were fired from Rafah, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip where heavy fighting with Palestinian armed groups is taking place. Some of the rockets were intercepted by Israeli defense systems.

The attack was condemned by international leaders who called for an end to violence and urged both sides to seek peace negotiations. The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been ongoing for decades and has led to widespread destruction and displacement of civilians on both sides.
