On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters from El Dorado Hills were able to swiftly contain a vegetation fire in a rural area near Ryan Ranch Road in the community of Latrobe. The fire was reported at 11:00 am and prompted multiple units from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and Cal Fire to respond.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the fire burning in a wooded canyon, spreading upslope through dry vegetation. Luckily, no homes were immediately at risk from the fire. Air support in the form of a helicopter from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was dispatched to assist in containing the blaze, which was estimated to cover about a quarter of an acre.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but satellite technology played a crucial role in detecting it initially. The technology was used to create a fire spread model and identify the closest @alertcalifornia camera for real-time monitoring. This allowed firefighters to quickly respond and contain the blaze before it could cause any significant damage.

The El Dorado Hills Fire Department credited its Fire Integrated Real-Time Intelligence System (FIRIS) aircraft for providing live aerial observation to support responders in their efforts to combat the fire. These technological advancements have proven instrumental in protecting Californians from wildfires and responding more effectively to such emergencies.

Firefighters remained on site throughout the afternoon to ensure all hot spots and embers were fully extinguished to prevent any potential flare-ups. Despite this incident, they are committed to continuing their efforts towards preventing future wildfires through technological advancements and dedicated resources.
